Chairman's letter

Welcome Disasterplasty Attendees,

The DisasterPlasty Conference was developed to help orthopedic surgeons diagnose and treat complex arthroplasties, revision arthroplasties and their complications. Participants will learn how to diagnose, treat and hopefully avoid harmful complications.

Many current arthroplasty meetings present papers on surgeons’ good results with straight- forward joint replacement while never evaluating or discussing those 5% of cases which are quite complex and complicated. The DisasterPlasty Conference originated because of an urgent need for more current information on the diagnosis and treatment options for these complex arthroplasty cases. The founders of this meeting also realized that detailed, current knowledge on diagnosing and treating prosthetic infections, peri-prosthetic fractures and all types of failed total joint arthroplasties was not readily available to practicing orthopedic surgeons.

Disasterplasty is presented in a competitive, friendly, informative, fun way – sharing experiences through completely open discussions while encouraging participation by all. This approach is why you will enjoy this course, while at the same time learning invaluable diagnostic and treatment options for these disasterplasties.

By the end of the course, hopefully you will pick up many pearls not taught in books, which can help you deal with these complicated cases. Our faculty are hands-on clinicians who are diagnosing and treating these complex patients, not physicians just writing papers and giving lectures. Our faculty have been hand-picked because of their expertise and openness in helping others. At this meeting you will have the opportunity to build lasting and valuable relationships with our faculty and participants.

We look forward to your support in making the 2024 DisasterPlasty Conference a success!
